Run by a husband-and-wife duo, Prawnography opened its second outlet at Novena in July, 2022. Their main stall is currently operating at Punggol within Koufu at Oasis Terrace. Their menu offers a plethora of dishes, ranging from their Signature Hokkien Mee ($8) and Prawn Noodles ($6) to Western dishes like Grilled Chicken Chop Aglio Oglio ($10) and Fried Rice ($6.50). Additionally, they also offer breakfast items like Nasi Lemak ($1.20) and Bee Hoon ($1.60) and desserts like waffles and ice cream.

Delicious And Smoky Hokkien Mee

Prawnography’s Signature Deluxe Fried Hokkien Mee ($10) is served with a mountain of delectable noodles, along with scallops, prawns, squid, pork belly, and fishcake. As soon as it arrives, the aroma of the wok hei hits your nostrils immediately, letting you know you’re in for an amazing treat.

In between the wet and dry version, the noodles have the most incredible smokiness, making each bite simply divine! Even though the wok hei is pretty prominent, its smokiness doesn’t overpower the flavour of the prawn stock, giving the perfect balance of flavours.

Elevating the flavours is a touch of acidity from the lime and zing from the chilli, which gives a fiery kick as well. As for the ingredients, the scallops and prawns are fresh and have a good bite to them. The dish however could use a little more squid in our opinion.

Topped with golden nuggets of pork lard, it gives a pleasant layer of umami although a little more crispiness would have been better for a satisfying crunch.
