This Gorgeous New Cafe At Jalan Riang Serves Scrumptious Kueh Pie Tee, Ayam Panggang & More!

The atmosphere of Babba is something to behold. It has Peranakan-style decor with Ratan-themed chairs, marble tables and white walls. The green shrubbery hung at the ceiling adds warmth and a calming vibe to the overall environment! Their wide and open windows show off the bustling crowd outside. At night, you get an amazing view of Singapore’s nightlife! The overall vibe of the cafe is simply unrivalled.

The food at Babba emphasizes tradition. They pride themselves on several qualities: great ingredients, authentic recipes and traditional cooking methods. Their menu is carefully curated to fully encompass Peranakan cuisine. However, that is not all they serve! They also serve western-style dishes, especially their breakfast sandwiches and pasta!

Their Kueh Pie Tee ($17.00) is a famous starter that many patrons enjoy! It has a crisp and flaky crust, sweet and fresh crab and tart braised turnip to cut through the richness. It is the perfect balance of richness and freshness- the perfect starter to get your taste buds going! With one bite of this dish, you’d be hungry for more!

Another crowd favourite is their Ayam Panggang ($28.00)! Not only is it crispy, but it is also smoky! This dish is as simple as it sounds, but it is far from basic! It is a whole chicken thigh, marinated in their signature Kicap Manis sauce and grilled to perfection! The chicken is perfectly charred, providing a strong smokiness, sweet from the kicap manis and amazingly juicy!

Last but not least, their Crab Omelette ($24.00) is a perfect dish paired with all the other dishes mentioned! While it is a starter, it is a very hearty dish! It has Sauteed Crab Meat, Hae Bi Hiam Floss and pickled shallots! And all of that is added atop their fluffy omelette! All in all, it is an amazing dish on its own, or eaten with rice!
