Jian Zao Ipoh Curry Noodle is currently helmed by a father-and-son duo, Mr Steven Cheah, and his son, Jacky. Steven left his job of 12 years at SBS Transit to pursue his dreams of opening his own business.

With the desire to carry on the legacy of his grandmother’s Ipoh curry noodles, Steven headed back to his hometown in Ipoh just to master the family’s 30-year-old recipe. After a year of R&D, Steven finally perfected the recipe and opened their first stall with his son at Ang Mo Kio in September 2021.

The Signature Ipoh Curry Noodle ($6.50) comes with the option of yellow noodles, bee hoon, and hor fun. The tasty bowl is served with a plethora of ingredients like char siew and roasted pork, as well as shredded chicken, tau pok, bean sprouts, and long beans.

You’re definitely getting your money’s worth just on the ingredients alone. The curry is incredibly aromatic and has the perfect amount of heat – not too overpowering but enough to pack a punch!

There is an amazing depth of flavour to it, with hints of umami and coconut milk from all the spices used. Additionally, lime and mint leaves are added to cut through the richness of the curry. The lime adds a refreshing burst of acidity, elevating the dish to another level. Each sip will leave you wanting more!
