The owner, Mr Koh, first started his business at Simei before settling down at his current location at Yuhua Place in 2003. Though Penang Laksa might seem like a simple dish, it actually takes four hours of preparation. The delicious broth is made with a plethora of fresh ingredients- lemongrass, tamarind, mint leaves, laksa leaves, torched ginger flower, pineapple, lettuce, cucumber, and minced mackerel.

The Penang Laksa ($4) is served with your typical white bee hoon, with every strand soaking up that rich and delicious broth filled with a beautiful tamarind flavour. Be sure to add the prawn paste sauce for a burst of flavour with the perfect balance of sweetness, tanginess, and spice. Additionally, the mackerel, mint leaves, onion, and pineapple slices elevate the gravy with different dimensions of flavours and textures.

Not only that, the laksa lies more on the healthier side, adding up to only 290 calories. To put things into perspective, three slices of white bread already adds up to almost 200 calories, making the laksa a good healthier choice option. Indulge in this tasty dish without worrying about the guilt!

Do note the laksa is only available from Friday to Sunday, so be sure to get it when you’re there.
