Located at Circuit Road Market and Food Centre, 333 Carrot Cake serves extremely good carrot cake with a twist – a Masala version! Desmond, who runs the store, was a former tour guide and decided to have his very own creation after being inspired by taking many Indian tourists around previously when he was a guide.

The Masala Carrot Cake ($4) may seem like a shock to you at first because masala is usually associated with Thosai. However, fret not, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the taste!

The masala went extremely well with the regular carrot cake base. This powder that Desmond adds to the carrot cake is the right amount! The masala flavour is not too overpowering and you can still also taste the original flavours of a regular carrot cake when you dig into this dish.

The carrot cake texture here is also quite firm, and not mushy at all – so there is definitely a bite to it. The amount of eggs added to a plate of carrot cake served here is also quite generous. You also have the crispy bits from the egg, giving you extra texture. Overall, the Masala Carrot Cake is worth a try if you’re up for something new. If you’re someone who enjoys strong flavours too, this is for you too! It has the slight kick from the masala powder, the savoury from the egg and the slight sweetness from the preserved radishes!

However, if you’re not up for the challenge, go ahead and give their other variations of Carrot Cake a try. The Black Carrot Cake ($3/$4) here is good and is a decent plate. The portion is generous and the ingredients are not lacking. The black carrot cake is slightly on the sweet side, but it is still an enjoyable plate!
