This Stall At Sembawang Hills Food Centre Serves Old-School Sweet & Smoky Fried Carrot Cake

Sembawang Hills Food Centre has been serving all kinds of different dishes, across many different cuisines. But nothing beats the classics! The stall, aptly named Fried Carrot Cake, has been serving affordable Fried Carrot Cake for decades at this point! Old-School Stall At Sembawang Hills Food Centre

This humble-looking stall might seem rather unassuming, but it is holding an amazing dish in its repertoire! The stall owner is this friendly Uncle who has been helping his father since young, who eventually took over the stall from him. He continues to make amazing Carrot Cakes to this day! His standard for quality has not diminished despite years in the business. Every plate comes out identical and delicious!

While the stall is not much to look at, the scent alone will draw you in! If you take a lap around the food court and start to approach the area in which this stall resides in-you will be enamoured by the smoky and sweet smell wafting from it!

Fried Carrot Cake With Lots Of Wok Hei

The radish cakes are prepped daily and early. It is tender and you can get the slight fragrance of radish. The cut of each radish morsel is not exactly uniform, but it gives the dish a rustic personality. The Black Fried Carrot Cakes are a crowd favourite for a reason. It has sweet dark soy sauce, salty preserved vegetables and the smoky woks give it an amazing flavour. Of course, you can’t forget the egg! It is then mixed on the wok to incorporate the flavours and the smokiness.

Their Fried Carrot Cake ($3/$3.50/$4) black version is beyond delicious. It is sweet, smoky, rich and deep in flavour! The cakes are tender to the bite but not mushy! There are also some of the cakes that have a slight crisp from the wok. The charred bits add a whole other level of smoky flavour! You could also choose to add their homemade chilli sauce for a slight tartness, and added spice!

Do note that Fried Carrot Cake stall closes when they are out of carrot cake, so don’t be late! We suggest coming around 10am so you arrive just before the lunch rush! Come on down today!
