Don’t let the few reviews on Google fool you as this stall has been around for over ten years and draws snaking queues to their stall daily. Being one of the most popular stalls in the hawker centre, you can easily spot their stall from the long lines, especially during the lunch hour.
Like most roasted meat stalls, you can find your classic dishes like Char Siew & Roasted Pork Rice, Roasted Duck Rice, and Wanton Noodles. Despite serving three variations of roasted meats, their char siew continues to be their most popular item.
Incredible Char Siew & Roasted Pork
The Char Siew & Roast Pork Rice ($5.50) is served with succulent and crispy slices of pork belly, with the perfect ratio of lean meat to fats that are worth every calorie. What stands out as well is that the skin remains incredibly crispy even after being left out for a significant period of time.
As for the char siew, it is served in really thick cuts, unlike some stalls that serve theirs in thin slices. Each slice is caramelized beautifully, with the layer of fats melting in your mouth as soon as you bite into it. Additionally, the charred ends give amazing layers of smokiness and a touch of bitterness.
Doused with a delicious sweet sauce, the smokiness and bitterness from the char siew give balance to it, making each slice simply incredible!
To give the meat a little more oomph, be sure to pair it with their chilli for a delightful burst of umami and spice. Served with a bowl of soup, it has a pleasant herbally flavour to it, although some might find it a tad salty.
