Saveur Thai® At Lorong Chuan

Established since 2014, the first two Saveur Thai® outlets are currently located at the Clementi and Ang Mo Kio Food Loft® coffeeshops. Since May 2021, they have expanded to open their first restaurant at New Tech Park, Lorong Chuan.

Chef Alvin, who has over 16 years of experience currently oversees the culinary operations of Saveur Thai®. Having worked in kitchens all around Thailand, some of the dishes featured are actually personal favourites of Chef Alvin, while some were inspired by the different regions of Thailand!

The Grilled Black Angus Beef with Spicy Thai BBQ Sauce ($23.90) is one of Chef Alvin’s personal favourites, making it a must-try! The steak is tender and flavourful and dusted with sawtooth coriander, Khao Kua (pounded roasted sticky rice), and premium chilli flakes.

Also known as Suea Rong Hai in Thai which means crying tiger, the tiger is crying because the steak is so delicious but it is unable to eat it! It’s a dish that will definitely satisfy all you steak lovers! To elevate the dish even further, be sure to dip your steak into their housemade Thai BBQ sauce! Every bite with the dip is an extra burst of spice and acidity, giving a harmonious blend of flavours!

Another one of Chef Alvin’s personal favourites, the Salt Baked Tilapia Fish ($25.90) is a dish for all you fish lovers! Cooked to perfection, the fish is amazingly tender, with a good amount of flavour from the salt. Be sure to scrape it off the fish unless you want a mouthful of salt! The dip is an incredible pairing with the fish, adding an incredible burst of umami, sweetness, and tang for a harmonious balance of flavours!

For all you tom yum lovers, the Tom Yum Tiger Prawn Red Soup ($14.90) is an absolute must-try! As this is tom yum kung, the soup is thicker and has a layer of creaminess unlike your typical tom yum soup. Each sip gives you the perfect blend of tanginess and spice, with a good amount of heat to make it super shiok! As the spice lingers, it makes it seriously addictive and it’ll have you wanting more! For the tiger prawn, it is really fresh and has a pleasant bite to it. Definitely a standout dish!

Another one of Saveur Thai’s signatures to try is definitely the Signature Steamed Giant Squid with Thai Lime Sauce ($19.90)! The squid has an amazing chewy and bouncy texture, with the succulent meat making it seriously delicious! As for the sauce, it lifts the dish with a burst of citrus and savouriness. It’s so tasty, you can even have it as a soup! A tasty seafood dish that’s certainly worth a try!

If you’re looking for a comforting bowl of noodles, the Deluxe Chicken Boat Noodles ($10.90) is definitely one to go for. The broth is incredibly aromatic and robust, making every sip simply amazing! The noodles are seriously silky and chewy, giving you a delightful mouth-feel on your palate! Not only that, you get three variations of chicken with this dish- chicken balls, slices of grilled chicken, and braised chicken feet! Cooked to perfection, the chicken balls are tender and bouncy and full of flavour.

As for the chicken, it is tender and juicy while the chicken feet has a pleasantly chewy and gelatinous texture! The chicken feet soaks up all that amazing broth, giving a burst of flavour as you bite into it!

If you’re looking for some carbs to share, why not go for the Saveur Thai Seafood Fried Rice ($9.90)! The rice is flavourful, with a touch of sweetness and spice for a beautiful medley of flavours! This dish is incredibly comforting, making you feel right at home with each bite! With the addition of the prawn and sotong, it gives the dish a touch of elevation with the seafood flavours and contrast of textures!

For a tasty dish to share, the Saveur Thai Appetiser Platter ($17.90) is the perfect go-to! Enjoy an array of sides like the housemade Thai Fish Cake and Thai Prawn Cake, Lemongrass Fried Chicken Wing, and a Green Mango Salad!

The fish cake is flavourful with a good bite, pairing well with the sweet chilli. As for the chicken wing, it is crispy and flavourful, with a mild lemongrass flavour for a unique twist!

Truly a great deal of effort goes into making the prawn cake, as it takes four hours to prepare it! The result is an incredibly crispy and flavourful delight, with the prawns giving a beautiful contrast of texture to the crunchy exterior! Be sure to pair it with the sweet chilli for an added burst of sweetness! As for the mango salad, it is the perfect palate cleanser for all that hearty food! The fresh raw mangoes add an amazing blend of sweet and sour, with the dressing giving a delightful balance with its spice and savouriness!

Of course, no Thai meal is complete without some Mango Glutinous Rice ($8.90)! The glutinous rice has a nice and chewy texture, with the mango giving a pleasant blend of sweet and sour! Lying more on the sweet side, the sweetness of the mango comes through first, with the sourness following after. For all you sweet tooths, be sure to add some of the coconut cream for even more sweetness and a touch of creaminess for one delightful bite! A classic Thai dessert that you simply can’t give a miss!
