Here’s How To Make The Coffee-Flavoured Rotiboy Buns Since We Won’t Be Able To Travel To JB For It

Well foodies, here we are. It looks like our grand plans to have the holiday of a lifetime are on hold for a while but we can do this. We wouldn’t be able to travel to JB for Rotiboy anymore, but we can make it ourselves at home. Today, you’re in good treat because we’re about to share a Papparoti, or, Rotiboy buns recipe with you!

Make Your Own Rotiboy Buns At Home!

Used to have it in Singapore, after it closed down, we can only travel to JB for it. Rotiboy is actually an affordable and convenient buns takeaway spot in Malaysia, if you do not know about it. Who doesn’t like this coffee flavoured pastry? Soft and buttery on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Here’s how you can bake your own Rotiboy buns at home!

Ingredients (Dough)

Wheat Flour (250gm)
Sugar (50gm)
Fresh Milk (150gm)
Egg Yolk (1)
Instant Yeast (1 tablespoon)
Butter (30gm)

Step 1: Put all the ingredients into a bowl except the butter.

Step 2: Beat everything until smooth and put the butter in. Mix everything using your hand until the dough doesn’t feel sticky and cover with a damp towel for 40 minutes.

Step 3: Preheat the oven to 170 °.

Step 4: After 40 minutes, put a piece of butter in the dough (salted). Round each dough and arrange in a tray and cover with a damp cloth for 10 minutes.

Ingredients (Topping Coffee)

Butter (60gm)
Sugar (30gm)
Nescafe 2 tablespoons + 2 tablespoons warm water(mix in a separate glass)
Egg (1)
Wheat Flour (70gm)

Step 5: Beat butter with sugar until creamy. Put in the eggs and Nescafe mixture and stir again. Add flour and stir well.

Step 6: Put in the mixture to the piping bag. From the middle, start piping a spiral for each dough and bake for 20 minutes on top and bottom heat.

Quick additional info, add 10 minutes on top heat for a crunchy texture of the bread. And with such a simple list of ingredients as well as steps, there’s no excuse not to try this recipe out.
