Nothing screams comfort food more than some delicious crispy fried chicken! Nestled at Toa Payoh lies Da Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice where they draw snaking long queues for their irresistible fried chicken wings every day.

Da Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice is located at Toa Payoh Lorong 5 Food Centre and is a popular dinner spot among the Toa Payoh residents. Don’t be surprised by the long queue but rather when there isn’t one. The stall is run by a two-man team, where the lady boss is the queen of multi-tasking. She takes the orders, scoops the rice onto the plate, and is the only one frying the chicken wings! That’s pretty impressive if you ask me.

For a more substantial meal, order the Famous Fried Chicken WIng RIce ($3.30) for some carbs to fill you up. The fried chicken wings definitely do not disappoint. Fried to a crispy golden brown, the chicken is seasoned well and every bite explodes with flavour. On top of that, the chicken is cooked well, making the meat tender and extremely juicy. To help ease the guilt some might feel from eating greasy food, the chicken is not oily at all! Time for less worrying and more eating.

Just when you thought the dish couldn’t get any tastier, be sure to dip the chicken wing into the addictive chilli sauce. Elevating the flavours of the wings, the chilli also gives it a nice spicy kick. If you can’t get enough of the chicken wings, which I’m pretty certain of, you can add them to your dish for $1.40 each. Definitely a must-try.
