When we think of food at Zion Riverside Food Centre, popular stalls like Zion Road Fried Kway Teow are probably one of the first few that come to mind. Michelin Bib Gourmand Stall At Zion Riverside Food Centre
Previously known as Noo Cheng Adam Road Big Prawn Mee, there is currently a stall with the same name situated at Adam Road Food Centre run by the owner’s sibling. To differentiate his stall, he renamed it Zion Road Big Prawn Noodle.
Offering both dry and soup versions, the Prawn Noodles here start from $8 onwards and go up to $28. The size and number of prawns do increase with the price point, ensuring you’re getting your money’s worth.
The Dry Prawn Noodles ($8) are served with yellow noodles, five prawns, one pork rib, and of course, a bowl of their tasty soup. The noodles are really flavourful and have an amazing kick of heat, with the fried shallots giving a nice layer of crunch.
The pork rib is pretty tender while the prawns are fresh and have the perfect bite to them. The prawns however only have a slight tinge of sweetness, making it a slight letdown. They come only half-deshelled as well, making it a slight hassle to eat.
As for the soup, it is incredibly robust, with the umami flavour of the prawns and the kick of pepper shining through with each sip. Additionally, there is a pleasant hint of the pork ribs as the soup hits you at the back of the throat. A comforting bowl of soup that’s perfect for any rainy day! On top of that, you can even enjoy free refills of the delicious soup!
