Wen Li Taiwanese Food is run by the duo team of Joe Cheong and Donovan Wong. Opened in November 2021, they have since already garnered quite a following for their tasty lu rou fan and pig intestine mee sua.

Funny story of how they met, they actually crossed paths when they were both working at Five Guys in Plaza Singapura. After flipping patties together for a year, they went their separate ways. However, the idea of opening an F&B business was always on Donovan’s mind. As a result, he roped in Joe, and fast forward to today, they now have an amazing stall serving scrumptious Taiwan delights!

The Pig Intestine Mee Sua Set ($6.80) is served with a bowl of glorious mee sua and a side of crispy popcorn chicken. The mee sua’s stock is made up of bonito flakes, ikan billis and soy sauce, which is then thickened with cornstarch. With an added splash of minced garlic and vinegar, it adds the final touch to complete this delectable stock.

Perfectly coating the mee sua, each bite is greeted with an explosion of flavour. Be sure to add their chilli for an extra depth of umami and kick. Unlike the usual Taiwan chilli paste, Wen Li’s chilli provides the perfect amount of spiciness without overpowering the flavour of the mee sua. The pig intestine is well cooked, without any trace of the funky smell. For those who aren’t fans it, you can also opt for shredded chicken breast instead.

The popcorn chicken is definitely the perfect side dish to go with your mee sua. Fried to perfection and dusted with the iconic salt-and-pepper seasoning, each bite gives you a pleasant crunch, with flavours that will instantly transport you back to Shilin Night Market!
