SIA will no longer be launching their ‘flights to nowhere’ due to multiple reasons but they’ve also come up with a new idea to replace the previous idea. Besides that, this new idea is also better for the environment and finances. SIA will be launching their ‘plane dining’ in October 2020 instead and passengers can make their reservation starting from 12th October 2020.

The transformation of the A380 plane to a restaurant will take place on 24th October and 25th October. However, the capacity of the restaurant is still unclear due to the safe distancing measures. Besides that, those who are making their reservation will have the opportunity to pick their cabin class to dine in.

You’re probably wondering what cuisine will be served in this restaurant. There will be a choice between international cuisine and a Peranakan menu customized for the temporary restaurant. Moreover, there will be two free alcoholic drinks and a free flow of other beverages for each meal.

Diners who show up in traditional outfits will also receive a gift from SIA. Moreover, there are other perks for the diners as well such as KrisShop discounts and a goodie bag.

Safety Measures That SIA Will Be Taking

SIA has also mentioned that to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus, they will be taking necessary precautions and this will also allow diners to dine comfortably. The safety measures will include cleaning and sanitizing the place, limiting group sizes to only five (5) people, practicing safe distancing, and carrying out temperature checks. It’s also mandatory for crews and diners to wear their face mask at all times except when eating or drinking.

Moreover, there will also be an opportunity for you to talk to the pilots and cabin crews. If you’re interested to check out the SIA’s flight simulator, you can pay an additional feel to experience it. This experience is definitely perfect for all those who aspire to be a pilot or be part of the cabin crew.

Besides that, if you miss the in-flight dining experience there is also an option for you to recreate your home to an in-flight dining environment. Bookings for this experience will open from 5th October. The meal will include a choice of wine or champagne as well. Moreover, this package will include a first-class or business class amenity kit and instructions to reheat the meal. There will also be an option where customers can pay extra to book a service where a private chef will reheat, plate, and serve the meal in their home.
