Due to the Covid-19 situation, Muslims in Singapore could not engage in the Ramadan Bazaar (Pasar Malam), for the past two years. The Ramadan Bazaar is a big part of Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Singapore, hence the celebrations has not been the same. Almost everyone who celebrates Hari Raya Aidilfitri would visit Geylang Serai, to shop traditional Malay cuisine, clothing, and other souvenirs. This year, though, things are about to change as there will be not one, but two celebrations—one in Geylang Serai another in Kampong Gelam!

Information On The Ramadan Bazaar

The Bazaars will be opened on April 2nd up to May 2nd. Their opening hours would be from 1pm to 11pm. Also, do note that there will be safety measures – to ensure that an enjoyable and safe environment is maintained. We gathered that there will be 2 sites, one near the Wisma Geylang Serai Building, and one at Kampong Gelam. Geylang Serai will have 2 zones, each with 20 stalls. There is currently no information on Kampong Gelam at the moment.

What To Expect At The Bazaar?

While there will be changes to meet safety measures, the People’s Association (PA) wanted to reassure that the bazaar will stay true to the environment- and overall vibe of the ‘Pasar Malam’. They have worked hard to find stall owners that could pay homage to the Bazaars before Covid-19. They have created a line-up of stalls that are old-school, traditional and even more out-of-the-box as well. So look forward to a throwback, as well as the amazing food and drinks this year at the Ramadan Bazaar!
