Located along Commonwealth Drive, Hock Ann Confectionery has been around for more than five decades. Many netizens recall fond memories of visiting it at a tender age. Fast forward to 2021, the owner of this humble bakery is more than 70 years old. That’s right, we are talking about Uncle Lee. Just like many other old-school bakeries, it has vintage signage. The simple interior has pastry cases and light CNY decoration.

Hock Ann Confectionery is famous for two types of cakes, Uncle Lee’s Signature Kaya Cake, and Peanut Cake. Signature Kaya Cake has a simple presentation, but it definitely packs a punch. It has fluffy pandan sponge cake layered with kaya. Despite being a dessert, the cake is not too sweet. It is no surprise that one person can finish the whole cake! It is priced at $28 per cake.

Another great hit is Hock Ann Confectionery’s Peanut Cake. In comparison, this would be a little more unique than Signature Kaya Cake. The body of the cake is made out of light vanilla cake, with layers of cream. On the outside, it is well-covered with peanuts! One whole cake is only priced at $20. Sounds like a very good deal to us! Apart from these cakes, you will be able to find doughnuts, coffee buns, and custard puffs!
