The Doraemon Exhibition Opens At The National Museum Of Singapore On Nov 5 With Original Manga Sketches And A Dorayaki Cafe

The Doraemon Exhibition Is Coming To The National Museum!

Relieve your childhood from 5 November 2022 to 5 February 2023 with the interactive exhibition. Visitors can look out for contemporary artworks that reinterpret Doraemon; Doraemon’s historical and cultural impact; and original drawings by Doraemon’s creator, Fujiko F Fujio.

First held in 2002, the Doraemon Exhibition has since made its rounds around as many as eight countries and this presentation at the National Museum of Singapore will be its first-ever edition outside Japan. View your favourite childhood character through the lens of 28 leading contemporary Japanese artists and arts groups.

The artworks showcased at the up-and-coming exhibition are a response to the theme “Create Your Own Original Doraemon” where all participating artists will present their take on the beloved Japanese icon through paintings, sculptures, graphics, photography, and more.

Original Manga Sketches & Dorayaki Cafe

Aimed to reintroduce this lovable character to Singapore and showcase different sides of Doraemon to people of all ages and backgrounds, drop by to get up close and personal with rare original manga sketches of Doraemon.

Located at the basement, The Exhibition Gallery features 18 unique variations of Doraemon, including canvases from popular Japanese artists such as Takashi Murakami and Yoshimoto Nara.

Next door at the Gallery Theatre, you’ll find artworks paying tribute to classic Doraemon movies, like Nobita’s Great Adventure into the Underworld and Nobita and the Kingdom of Clouds.

Fill up on Doraemon’s favourite red bean pancakes, or Dorayaki, at the themed cafe before leaving. Specially flown in from one of Japan’s most established confectionery shops, Toraya, the chefs are here to prepare the most delicious Doraemon dishes for you to munch on.

Don’t forge to make a pitstop at the Doraemon pop-up store to take home some exclusive Singapore-only Doraemon merchandise. These include Doraemon collectibles and collaborations from the exhibition, in the form of tote bags, mugs and t-shirts.

Happening from 5th November 2022 – 5th February 2023, take a trip down memory lane when you drop by The Doraemon Exhibition at The National Museum of Singapore.

Admission is free for children while tickets are priced at $30 and $25 for adults and students respectively.
