TL;DR

  • Drive-in movies are no longer an American nostalgia thing – Singapore’s Downtown East is hosting its very own showing on 8 August!
  • The movie screening will take place at Begonia open-air carpark, and will feature the film The Greatest Showman.
  • Tickets appear to be sold out at the moment, but walk-ins are still encouraged at the moment of writing!

Is there anything more iconic in 50s American movies than the classic drive-in theatre experience? A burger, a drink, and yourself, reclining comfortably in your car seat with your partner or your family as you watch the newest films on a huge screen with hundreds of other cars – it seems so fun

Downtown East Singapore seems to have caught on to the idea, because they’re hosting a drive-in movie at Begonia open-air carpark next week!

Downtown East is screening The Greatest Showman from 7.30pm – 10pm at Begonia open-air carpark on 8 August, and it may be one of the best ideas they’ve ever had.

Getting your hands on one of these $18 tickets means that your car gets entry to the movie – and also that each car gets 2 burgers and 2 drinks for you and your partner or family! The burgers are from the Ministry of Burgers, and they’ll be delivered to you by roller-skaters from Hi Roller Singapore.

Talk about retro.

Overwhelming Responses

Downtown East made their announcement for this cool event in this Instagram post, and so far the response has been overwhelming. Tickets have already sold out, but walk-ins are still up for grabs, if you’d like to try your luck for this unique experience. (Walk-ins don’t come with burgers, unfortunately, but the experience is priceless, right?)
