Whitely Road Big Prawn Noodle At Old Airport Road
Whitley Road Big Prawn Noodle first started at Whitley Road Hawker Centre in the 70s, and has since expanded with another outlet situated at Thomson Road. The current branch at Old Airport Road achieved the Michelin Plate in 2019 and continues to draw snaking long queues of customers during lunch hour.

Don’t be fooled if you happen to see a short queue at the stall as a buzzer system is being used. This gives customers the convenience to chope a table while waiting for their food to be ready.

The Big Prawn Noodle ($5.50) is served in both the soup and dry versions, with three big fresh prawns. The soup is flavourful and sweet, with a hint of the umami prawn taste. For those who enjoy strong flavours, you might find it a tad bland but then again, it is still up to personal preference. Have a bite of the prawns and you can instantly taste the freshness. Additionally, they are pretty huge and have a pleasantly bouncy texture.

For those who prefer dry noodles, the dry version comes highly recommended. The noodles are coated with a homemade chilli paste, giving a pleasantly spicy and savoury taste to each bite! To top it off, fried shallots and pork lard are added for that extra umami and crunch. For those meat lovers, you can also opt for their Big Prawn Pork Rib Noodles ($5.50). The pork ribs are flavourful and fall-off-the-bone tender, making every bite simply enjoyable.
