Sin Heng Kee Porridge Sees Surge In Customers
Known for its thick congee and flavourful ingredients, Sin Heng Kee continues to serve up their tasty dishes at affordable prices. Although their Hougang outlet has been around for years, their sudden increase in popularity can be attributed to foodies sharing about the congee on Facebook groups like Can Eat! Hawker Food.
Crowds Have Created A Little Inconvenience
Although it’s great to see Sin Heng Kee doing well, the huge crowds have caused minor inconveniences for residents around the area. Due to the snaking queues, getting to the shop beside Sin Heng Kee has become a slight hassle, especially for the elderly folks in wheelchairs. As a result, some residents are forced to walk around the crowds to reach the shop beside Sin Heng Kee via the road. This could be dangerous for some, especially for older folks.
Crowd Control Measures Implemented
The owner of Sin Heng Kee has since apologized for the inconvenience caused to the residents, stating that it takes time to cook the porridge. Furthermore, some of their employees are also getting on with age, meaning they aren’t as fast as the younger workers. These factors result in customers having to wait longer for their food. However, there are staff dedicated to controlling the lines and ensuring safety when queuing.
For those heading down for a taste, do remember to be mindful of others when queueing. Sin Heng Kee Porridge also has another outlet at Block 101 Yishun Avenue 5. Hurry down today!
