However, if you are starting to become a chef during the Circuit Breaker, why don’t you try these recipes instead. Thanks to the OREO company, now we have an abundance of traditional ‘Kuih Raya’ recipes that have taken a darker twist! Literally.
OREOs In Kuih Raya
Ultimate Kek Batik With OREO
Prep: 20 mins
Cook: 10 minuts
Serves: 10 pcs
Ingredients:
150g Golden OREO Cookies (broken into 4)
100g Chocolate Bar
30g Cocoa Powder
50g Unsalted Butter
100g Condensed Milk
2 Eggs
50g Castor Sugar
Garnishing:
Original OREO Cookies (broken into 4)
Golden Oreo Cookies (broken into 4)
Steps:
1. Melt chocolate bar, cocoa powder, butter, condensed milk and sugar in a saucepan on medium-low heat.
2. Stir the chocolate mixture continuously until fully melted and well combined. Remove from heat.
5. Mix in Golden OREO cookies and stir until well coated
5. Press mixture into a small cake tin and sprinkle garnishes
6. Chill in the fridge for 20 minutes or overnight.
7. once set, cut into squares and serve.
Honey Cornflakes Cup With OREO
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Serves: 40 pieces
Ingredients:
1/8 cup Butter
1/8 cup Honey
85g Golden or Original Oreo Cookies (Coarsely chopped)
2 1/2 cup Corn Flakes
Garnishing:
50g Seedless Dates (chopped)
20g Golden or Original OREO Cookies (coarsely chopped)
Steps:
1. Melt butter and honey in a mixing bowl. Add in chopped cookies and cornflakes. Stir to combine
2. Place mixture into colourful paper cups
3. Sprinkle dates and cookie bits on top.
4. Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C for 10 minutes
Almond London With Oreo and Cadbury
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Serves: 20 pieces
Ingredients:
150g OREO Cookies (finely crushed)
65g Butter
20 pcs Whole Almonds (toasted)
150g Chocolate Bar
Steps:
1. Melt butter and remove from heat
2. Mix in the mini OREO cookies. Take a bit of dough from mini oreo cookie mixture and wrap around 1 whole almond. Repeat process with the rest of the dough and almonds.
3. Melt chocolate bar in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
4. Dip the almond oreo cookie into the melted chocolate and transfer them into mini paper cups.
5. Next, sprinkle some almond nibs onto the top of the cookie
6. Set in fridge for 30 minutes
Kuih Kapit with OREO
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 10 minutes
Serves: 25 pieces
Ingredients:
125g Flour (sifted)
2 tbsp Tapioca Flour (sifted)
150g Icing Sugar
240g Eggs (lightly beaten)
250g Coconut Milk
100g Oreo Cookie (finely crushed)
Steps:
1. Whisk all ingredients together until sugar dissolved. Sieve it.
2. Heat up the eggroll toaster
3. Sprinkle OREO crumbs into the mould. Pour in the mixture into the middle part of the toaster and close while giving it a quick squeeze
4. Remove kuih kapit from toaster once the light goes off. fold into half then quarter when it is still piping hot.
5. Once cooled, store in airtight containers.
Raya Biscuit Bangkit With OREO
Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 160 minutes
Serves: 30 pieces
Ingredients:
500g Tapioca Flour (sifted)
5 Pandan Leaves
3 Egg Yolk
250g Icing Sugar
250ml Thick Coconut Cream
70g OREO Cookie (Finely Crushed)
Steps:
1. Place tapioca flour into a large deep tray along with pandan leaves. Bake in the oven at 150°c for 2 hours. Once the tapioca flour has cool down completely, sift it. Set aside.
2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with icing sugar using a mixer until slightly pale.
3. Roughly mix in the tapioca flour and add in the coconut cream bit by bit.
4. Knead dough until combined and texture is crumbly. Add OREO crumbs into the mixture and mix well.
5. Flatten the dough and cut using a flower-shaped cookie cutter. Bake in a preheated oven at 120°c for 20 minutes
6. Store in an airtight container after cooling the cookies.
Kuih Bahulu with OREO
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 12 minutes
Serves: 50 pieces
Ingredients:
5 Eggs
80g Castor Sugar
128g Flour (sifted)
70g OREO Cookies (coarsely crushed)
20g Honey
Steps:
1. Preheat the oven and kuih bahulu mould at 200°c
2. Beat eggs and sugar on high speed using a mixer for 5 minutes till slightly thicken.
3. Add flour little by little and beat for another 2 minutes. Add in honey and mix well.
4. Brush some oil and sprinkle some OREO crumbs inside the mould. Pour mixture until almost full.
5. Put mould onto rack tray. Position rack into the centre of the oven. Bake them using the hot and bottom heat of the oven. Bake for 12 minutes
6. Remove from the mould once cooked. let it cool on a cooling rack.
