Opened in October 2022, Orange Mocha Cafe is situated at Level 4 of Wisma Atria next to Food Republic which lies BookXcess, a bookstore from Malaysia nestled within OCBC Bank. Sharing the same space with them also includes Crane Living, a store selling lifestyle accessories, and of course, not forgetting Orange Mocha Cafe.

Designed in a white-minimalist style, the cafe has plenty of seats available for you to recharge and sit down after you’re done with all your reading, just like a regular library. Foodwise, most of the dishes available are more suited as light snacks. Brunch sets are also available, but they’re served with a unique concept you don’t typically find elsewhere.

Choose from three types of brunch sets – 3 items set ($14.98), 5 items set ($22.98), and 7 items set ($28.98) which is ideal for sharing.

If you’re opting for the 3 Items Brunch Set ($14.98) for example, you get a selection of carbs, protein, and salad. Choices of carbs include Furikake Rice, Garlic Fried Rice, Mentaiko Pasta, Cha Soba, Aglio Olio, Croissant, and Focaccia, with Proteins like Japanese Chicken Curry, Chicken Teriyaki, Salmon Teriyaki, Beef Yakiniku, Unagi Kabayaki, and Crispy Salmon Katsu available.

All-Day Set Meal ($14.98)

Available daily, the All-Day Set Meal is definitely an affordable option if you don’t want to compete with the lunch and dinner crowd at the Food Republic next to the cafe. Each set is served with a main course, a choice of rice or pasta, one mini doughnut, and a cup of Coffee or Tea. Choices of the main course and carbs are similar to that of the brunch sets mentioned above.

For our set meal, we decided to go for the Garlic Fried Rice with Unagi Kabayaki and a Strawberry Doughnut paired with a Flat White Coffee.

The doughnut has a good amount of doughiness, giving it a nice chew. Drizzled with strawberry syrup, the flavour is pretty artificial. making it pretty subpar. You can also opt for the doughnut with icing sugar if you prefer something a little more classic. Paired with a cup of coffee, do take a moment to admire the stunning swan latte art before sipping on it.

Moving on to the mains, the unagi is moist and not fishy at all. Additionally, it is served boneless which is a nice touch. Overall, however, it is similar to your average store-bought unagi with nothing much to rave about.

As for the garlic rice, the incredible flavor of the garlic hits you as soon as you take a bite! On top of that, there are bits of garlic to give a pleasant crunch to the rice. As the rice is slightly undercooked, there is a bit more bite to it. However, it is definitely still pretty tasty and worth a try.

Amazing Cakes Also Available For Dessert!

If you aren’t particularly fond of strong matcha flavours, you will definitely find this Matcha Cheesecake ($8.50) pretty palatable. Delightfully creamy, the flavour of the cheese comes through the most, followed by the flavour of the matcha which leaves a nice aftertaste. One improvement would be to have a crumbly base for a better contrast of textures but nonetheless, it is still a pretty tasty dessert.

One of their customer-favourites, the Walnut Carrot Cake ($8.50) is nicely dense which goes perfectly with the creamy cream cheese frosting. The flavour of the cream cheese is not too overpowering, but it does get a little heavy after a while making it a good sharing dessert. Adding an amazing layer of crunch and nuttiness are the walnuts, giving balance to the cream cheese as well. If carrot cakes are your guilty pleasure, this is definitely a must-try!
