With plenty of popular Lor Mee stalls like Heng Kee Lor Mee and ‘Best Lu Mian In Town’, here’s another spot that’s definitely deserving of joining in the reigns. Tucked away at Hougang lies the legendary Lorong Ah Soo Lor Mee that has been serving up their scrumptious lor mee for the last 20 years!
Legendary Stall At Hainanese Village Centre
Being one of the pioneers in Hougang Hainanese Village Centre, Lorong Ah Soo Lor Mee has been around even before the food centre was renovated over ten years ago. The famous stall continues to draw serious crowds daily even with its short operating hours. Despite opening for only three and a half hours, they are sometimes sold out even before they’re closed!
Amazing Bowl Of Lor Mee
Although they don’t serve the typical fried items, Lorong Ah Soo Lor Mee uses braised duck meat instead of mackerel, setting them apart from others. It is also certainly what draws their loyal customers back to their stall.
For their lor mee ($4), customers can choose from various noodles- yellow flat noodles, bee hoon, thick bee hoon or even a combination of them. Additionally, you can add your own condiments like minced garlic, vinegar, chilli padi, and spring onions to your liking. This allows you to adjust the flavour profile of the gravy, depending on the toppings and the amount you choose to add. Even without the additional condiments, the gravy is already rich and flavourful by itself.

Each strand of noodles is perfectly coated with the delicious gravy, with the tender duck meat giving each bite an added layer of savouriness and texture. On top of that, the gravy isn’t too thick and starchy, making you feel less jelak.
