Legendary Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry To Be Closing Soon In June Or July

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. There has been word that Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry- the famous, old-school bakery, will be closing sometime in June or July. They have been serving delicious, classic local kuehs and desserts since the 1970s and it will be difficult to see them go this abruptly. Hurry down now before they close to have a taste of local sweets one last time!

Legendary Bakery Soon To Close

Since the 70s, this family-run business has been creating traditional Singaporean desserts and baked goods, six days a week. They were a local hot spot, with lines of people queueing up from the morning to the evening. It has been mentioned that there has been a sale made of their unit which is likely the main cause. One family member at Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry has mentioned that they will potentially be retiring as well.

Some of you might already be familiar with their kuehs! They are famous for their traditional Ondeh-Ondeh, Putu Ayu, Kueh Lapis and Ang Ku Kueh – just to name a few. All of these noteworthy delights cost less than $5! They also make every single kueh and dessert fresh daily! This was another reason for their fame, they served delicious treats and a low price- giving everyone a chance to treat themselves!

They also don’t shy away from trendier, western-style desserts as well! Serving treats like Apple Pie, Biscotti and a variety of cookies! Their repertoire of sweets is unrivalled in the community, catering to everyone’s tastes and preferences. This garners them a large following, comprising of more traditional dessert lovers, as well as trendier fans as well. Tiong Bahru Galicier Pastry was truly the heart of their community.

It is currently unclear if this will be a temporary closure of their bakery or a permanent one, but what is clear is that people will be lining up fast- to show support to a local legend. This could be one of the last, old-school bakeries in Singapore. Don’t miss out and have a taste one last time!

Due to their current situation, there is likely already a long line outside their bakery. We suggest coming earlier, around 10.30am to get their treats fresh and to avoid their treats being sold out! What are you waiting for? Hurry down and try them while you still can!
