For those that don’t know, Koryo Jung actually has two other stores within International Plaza as well- Koryo Jeong Takeaway and Koryo Jeong Restaurant. Opened in early 2022, their street food eatery is small and cosy, with a capacity of eight people. Serving mainly ready-to-eat meals, the eatery’s concept aims to provide quick bites for the working crowd during lunch hour.

They even have a refrigerator filled with a wide selection of banchan like your classic kimchi as well as stir-fried anchovies for you to pair with your food or for you to take home and enjoy.

Tteokbokki ($6)

A Korean street food favourite, Koryo Jung’s Tteokbokki is delightfully soft and chewy and even retains its texture after a significant period. The sauce is flavourful and has the perfect amount of heat, leaving you wanting more with each bite. Additionally, the dish is served with a boiled egg, absorbing the flavours of the amazing sauce.

Fishcake Sticks With Soup ($5 for 2 pcs)

Up next is a dish we don’t find very often in Singapore which is Korean fishcake. The fishcakes have a pleasantly clean and light flavour while having a nice soft and chewy texture. As for the soup, it is incredibly flavourful and light, with the flavour of the anchovies shining through. Furthermore, it isn’t oily at all, making this comforting soup an amazing palate cleanser.

Kimchi Jeon ($4)

The Kimchi Jeon has a good flavour, with the kimchi adding layers of crunch, spice, and tang. Flavourwise, it is pretty on point compared to the ones you would typically find at Korean restaurants. However, the pancakes are cold due to it being left out, making it lack crispiness. Although it would taste better when it’s freshly prepared, considering it’s only $4 and you won’t have to wrestle with the lunch crowd, it’s definitely a worthy compromise.

Bulgogi Kimbap ($8)

If you’re looking for something a little more filling, the Bulgogi Kimbap makes a pretty good option. The rice is rolled with beef bulgogi, carrots, cucumber, crabsticks and danmuji, which is a yellow pickled radish. The flavour of the beef is quite prominent with the carrot, cucumber and pickled radish adding a pleasant crunch to each bite. Definitely a good snack to have on the go or as an appetiser to share.
