Charcoal Char Siew Rice & Wanton Noodles That You Must Try
Alright so here at Kim San Leng Food Centre, there are many hawker stalls that serve delicious fares but our focal point will be on 碳烤黑叉烧. This particular hawker stall’s name is directly translated into char siew that’s roasted over charcoal until they have a beautiful caramelised glaze. And that’s true because each piece of char siew here indeed has a glaze that will leave you drooling.
Furthermore, the char siew here can be accompanied by either Rice, Wanton Noodles or solely on its own. Personally, we prefer the Char Siew Rice over the Char Siew Wanton Noodles but hey, that’s subjective right? On each plate of Char Siew Rice, there’s a generous amount of Char Siew slices alongside a portion of rice that’s bathed with their signature gravy. Combine the rice and Char Siew into one bite and you’ll definitely want to savour more than just one bite.
The Char Siew Wanton Noodles consists of springy Wanton Noodles, slices of Char Siew as well as pieces of Wantons. If you’re more of a noodle person, then we think that this plate of Char Siew Wanton Noodles is for you.
Did you know that you can also order these Char Siew slices on their own? Forget about all those carbs and enjoy char siew in its simplest, most basic form. This is where you get to savour the authentic and unpretentious flavours in these char siew slices.
Fried, Soup Versions of Dumplings and Wantons
Aside from Char Siew Rice or Noodles, there are also a wide variety of snacks at this hawker stall in Kim San Leng Food Centre.
One of the items that you definitely must order is the fried dumplings. These fried dumplings are generously filled to the edge and deep fried to perfection. First bite into these dumplings will result in a crackle and later on, the fillings of the dumplings complement the whole eating experience. One thing’s for sure is that 1 piece of these dumplings will never be enough.
Also, the soup version of the dumplings are equally delectable because they are similarly filled to the edge with prawn fillings.
In addition to crunchy fried dumplings, there’s also the soup version of Wantons that are served here. This bowl of Soup Wantons is the perfect go-to comfort food.
All in all, 碳烤黑叉烧 located in Kim San Leng Food Centre is a literal paradise for char siew lovers. Also, our honest verdict is that we wouldn’t mind having the Char Siew for all 3 meals in a day. Well, maybe for supper too. ?
