For those who have not heard, the famous soya sauce chicken rice and noodle spot Hawker Chan lost their Michelin Star last year. However, they have been holding onto their Michelin Star for 5 years straight! As many accomplished restaurants know, it is far more challenging to keep a Michelin Star than to get one. There are strict requirements, and the need for originality and quality must be maintained relentlessly.
Hawker Chan Going For The Michelin Bib Gourmand
Ever since receiving their Michelin Star, Hawker Chan has expanded to Thailand, Kazakhstan and Australia. Despite that Chan Hon Meng, owner and founder of Hawker Chan continues to work at the front lines of their Chinatown Complex Food Centre for the last two years! He has worked non-stop to ensure quality in his home country! He cares deeply for the food he provides and the people he provides them too!
Despite losing their Michelin Star, Mr Chan Hon Meng continues to keep high spirits! He mentions that he still enjoys serving his customers daily and that, while regretful, is still hopeful that his quality food is still noteworthy! As of this year, he mentions that he plains to attain the Michelin Bib Gourmand accolade and will work towards it with fervour! Results of this year’s Michelin Bib Gourmand are to be released this July 5. Until then, he continues to work hard to maintain quality Chicken Rice!
Since they’ve opened, they continue to serve the same time-tested dishes- beloved by their customers! While the locals love their food, tourists love it much more! Making up 30% of their customer base, tourists from all over come to Hawker Chan to have a taste of classic Singaporean Flavours. Mr Chan believes that the people are the true judges of his food, and with that, he plans to continue delivering quality food to his customers!
