When it comes to laksa, there are several different variations of the broth. For those who prefer the thicker version, Guang Fa’s laksa will definitely hit the spot. Setting them apart from the rest, one of their secret ingredients is hae bee hiam, also known as spicy dried shrimp. Coupled with the addition of coconut milk, the result is a delightfully thick and flavourful broth that customers simply can’t get enough of.
The Laksa ($4) is served with a generous amount of fishcake, tau pok, cockles, and half a boiled egg. What stands out is the rice and creamy gravy, with each sip having a beautiful layer of coconut milk. Additionally, the small dollop of sambal gives an added kick of spice to lift the dish.
The noodles absorb the gravy well, making them really flavourful and enjoyable to slurp. As for the cockles, they are much more plump compared to others and taste really fresh without any “fishiness”. For the tau pok, they soak up the gravy beautifully, bursting in flavour as soon as you bite into it!
