Club 5 New ‘Bartenders’ Choice of Cocktails’ Menu

The Bartender’s Choice menu features three distinct cocktails crafted by three bartenders to reflect their personalities and expertise. With a blend of local and international ingredients, these concoctions go beyond the ordinary, showcasing the bartenders’ creativity and knack with the cocktail shaker.

Head Bartender Richard Li, along with colleagues Rino and Amy, has poured their passion into crafting a menu that goes beyond mere drinks – it’s a reflection of their personalities and individuality.

Situated at the edge of Kampong Glam, Club 5 within PARKROYAL on Beach Road transforms into a bar that evokes nostalgia and modernity once evening comes. Originating in 1986 as a dance club for ballroom dancing enthusiasts, it has since evolved into a world-class cocktail bar after its revamp in November 2020.

A Martini riff with an intriguing twist, this cocktail defies convention with its translucent presentation and bold umami profile. Crafted from a fusion of gin, vodka, and sesame infusion, it’s a harmonious blend that pays homage to the cosmopolitan nature of Kampong Gelam. The addition of chocolate, clipped to the side of the glass with nibs, symbolizes the indulgence of the West, while the sesame infusion nods to the traditional flavors of the East.

2. Bartender Rino

This commitment to a bold and balanced approach is mirrored in his drink style, reflecting the essence of his personality with every carefully crafted concoction.

Made from premium rum, banana saccharum and bitters, it is a unique take on the classic Old Fashioned with ingredients that pay homage to the historical spice trade routes that once defined the region. The banana saccharum represents the exotic flavors brought by traders, making this cocktail a delightful fusion of simplicity and maritime richness.

3. Bartender Amy

Cheeky and adventurous in her pursuits, Amy is a mixologist unafraid to dance with bold and punchy flavours. The life of the party, she exudes a lively and exuberant energy that effortlessly elevates the spirits of every guest. Unbound by convention, Amy’s playful and mischievous nature is reflected in her approach, constantly pushing the boundaries of traditional mixology

Specialty Drink – Hawthorn

Mixed from premium gin, herbs and hawthorn, gin takes center stage, complemented by herbal nuances and the subtle sweetness of hawthorn. The herbal infusion and hawthorn notes pay homage to the diverse cultural influences found in the local neighborhood.

The Tried And Tested

Left: Chrysanthemum, Right: Kaya Pandan

The three new concoctions add to four other cocktails in the pre-existing lineup. They include the Chrysanthemum, a floral heady potion of white Vermouth fragranced with a herbal infusion and nuances of star anise. A homage to local flavours is the Kaya Pandan, a drink of white rum and pandan syrup brightened with the acidity of orange and citrus.

Left: Okinawa Winter Flower, Right: Fizzy Tiger

Japan gets its own tribute with the Okinawa Winter Flower, made from Roku gin, roselle, gingerflower, and citrus. Lastly, the Fizzy Tiger is a raunchy glass of Hendricks gin, pumpkin, beer and citrus, finished off with a silky foam for a luxurious mouthfeel.
