BreadTalk Will Delist Themselves On 5th June After A Net Loss Of $5.8 Million In 2019

With more than 100,000 follows and likes on Facebook, BreadTalk is a household name to many Singaporeans. Well-regarded for its wholesome floss bun and chiffon pandan cake BreadTalk is available in multiple locations in Singapore including Plaza Singapura, Raffles City, CityLink, Funan, among others. Despite the prominent presence, it appears that BreadTalk underwent some financial losses in 2019.

A Net Loss Of $5.8 Million In 2019

First reported by The Straits Times, BreadTalk has a net loss of $5.8 million last year. As part of the filings in early 2020, it mentioned that the operating environment remains challenging in Singapore, China, and Hong Kong. In addition, Covid-19 had made the environment even harder than before. Back in March, it was reported that BreadTalk was cutting salaries for senior management and middle-management executives.

Fast forward, BreadTalk announced that they will be delisting themselves from Singapore Exchange (SGX). This simply means that the company will be privately owned again, and members of the public are not able to purchase any shares. Taking effect on 5th June 2020 at 9:00 a.m., BreadTalk will be joining other homegrown brands who have delisted such as Eu Yan Sang, and Osim.

Other brands that are currently operating under BreadTalk include Food Republic, Food Junction, and Toast Box.
