Boon Kee Wanton Noodle is a family-run stall that has been a popular spot among residents of the area for many years. Besides their famed wanton noodles, they also serve up an array of other dishes like Dumpling Noodles, Ipoh Hor Fun, and Soya Sauce Chicken Noodles. Although there are usually long queues, the line goes at a pretty fast pace, ensuring customers won’t have to wait long.

The Wanton Noodles ($3.50) are served with noodles, slices of char siew, vegetables, fried wanton, and a soup with two plump wantons. What makes Boon Kee stand out from the rest is the unique texture of their noodles.

Unlike most stalls where their noodles are springy, Boon Kee’s are primarily fluffy, giving them a one-of-a-kind texture. The noodles are full of flavour and have an incredible kick of spice that pairs well with its savoury sauce. Additionally, it doesn’t have any of that alkaline noodle taste, something most of us would appreciate.

The char siew is sadly on the dry side and lacks the fatty meat, the makings of any good char siew. The fried wanton can be improved as well as it had an abysmal amount of filling. It was, however, crispy and well-seasoned.

As for the soup, it is light and has a good amount of pork flavour with a pleasant kick of pepper at the end. The soup wantons have a generous amount of filling and are full of flavour.

Overall, although Boon Kee might not be the best in Singapore, it’s still easy to see why their unique noodles continue to draw crowds daily. Hurry down and try them for yourself today!
