Occupying two shop lots in Lebuh Bishop Penang, the spacious eatery offers an unpretentious dining environment much like a casual Chinese restaurant. Featuring an extensive menu that offers diners a wide variety of traditional and modern Nyonya dishes, the generous portions here at Auntie Gaik Lean are great for sharing.

An authentic reflection of the essence of Nyonya dishes, Chef Gaik Lean has been guarding her secret recipes for decades and she makes no compromises in terms of food quality.

Many items are made from scratch, including her heavenly pie tee and gulai tumis which uses over eight ingredients in the curry paste, such as fresh saffron.

A fair balance of sweet, spicy, sour, and salty, the Sambal Brinjal is a dangerously addictive dish that tastes good alone on its own, but even better with a serving of white rice. Also try Nasi Ulam, an old-time recipe that is equally fiery. An utterly delicious and aromatic rendition of the traditional Indonesian dish, the Nasi Ulam pairs wonderfully with any of the meat and vegetable side dishes at Auntie Gaik Lean.
