There are many cafes in Singapore. It might seem overwhelming to choose one out of dozens! Luckily, we have the perfect recommendation! Missus cafe at Hamilton Road was open recently and is quite something. Not only do they serve delicious classics like grilled cheese and french toast, but they also have a beautiful interior to match! Your mouth would be on the floor for more than just the food!
Victorian-Inspired Cafe At Hamilton Road
From the interior alone, you feel a welcoming and warm energy- beckoning you to take a seat. The seats are comfy, the lighting is warm and the overall vibe is splendid! The amount of attention to detail in the cafe is unbelievable. If you find satisfaction in symmetry, this is the place for you! Also, their wide window facing the street gives you a sense of community as you watch people pass by as you enjoy your meal. All in all, a quality cafe!
Not only is the interior and decor beautiful, but the people are also amazingly wholesome as well! The staff are welcoming, as well as accommodating! Should you wish to take some photos of your own, you can ask them to heat the sandwiches to get the perfect cheese pull!
Grilled Cheese With Unique Flavours
The classic Missus Melt is anything but basic. It features not one, not two, but four different kinds of cheese in its cheese blend. It is the perfect combination of sharpness, tanginess and of course the cheese pull. Also, to add to the dish’s complexity, they spread a generous layer of Truffle Pate! To hold all that cheesy goodness, they use thick cuts of bread. You also get a side of tangy and rich Roasted Garlic Tomato Soup and Tapioca Chips!
The Missus Melt ($17) is an upgraded take on a classic. Instead of the classic bread, cheese and butter combo- you get a nice blend of different cheeses, thick-cut bread and truffle pate. One word describes this dish, rich. The cheeses combined with the buttery bread- along with the truffle pate, make this dish extremely delicious, albeit heavy. The flavours, however, are all pronounced without clashing or overpowering each other. This is a must-try!
Want a change of pace from your garden variety grilled cheese? Their Slumdog Grillionaire is interesting. Reminiscent of sandwiches found on the streets of India, this grilled cheese features crusty and crunchy bread, Masala potato, coriander pesto and their signature cheese blend! Sea salt is also sprinkled on top of the bread for added texture! This dish comes with a side of Tamarind Chutney and their signature tapioca chips!
The Slumdog Millionaire ($19) is an explosion of flavour. The fresh pesto flavours pair well with the rich cheeses! The bread is nicely toasted adding an added crunch to each bite. The potato Masalah is fragrant, whilst not being too overpowering. The potatoes themselves were fluffy- adding another dimension of texture. This dish is perfect for those who love different textures in their food!
