As there weren’t any BBQ seafood stalls in East Coast Lagoon Food Village back in 1996, it was precisely why Mr Paul chose to set up one. Stingray Forever BBQ Seafood has been serving up amazing BBQ seafood dishes ever since and continues to draw crowds to this day.
Offering a plethora of dishes like BBQ stingray, sambal lala, grilled squid, chilli and black pepper crab, you’ll definitely be spoilt for choice. Their crowd-favourite BBQ stingrays are offered in two flavours- sambal and garlic butter, a unique version you don’t typically see with this dish. However, it is definitely the sambal stingray that remains a hit among customers.

The Sambal Stingray ($18) features a beautiful and thick slab of meat that’s covered with a generous amount of spicy sambal, which is then barbecued to perfection. As the stingray is cooked with the sambal instead of having it slathered after, the meat is infused with the spices, making it extremely flavourful. Sink your teeth into the juicy and tender meat, without worrying about any fishy smell.

The highlight of the dish is no doubt their homemade sambal, which is made with over 20 ingredients. The sambal is incredibly fragrant and flavourful, giving each bite an amazing burst of tanginess and spice. Additionally, the peanuts add a pleasant nuttiness to the sambal, pairing perfectly with the stingray. For those who prefer a little more kick, be sure to dip the meat into their chinchalok.
