From Nov 1 this year till Jan 31, 2023, Newton Food Centre will be temporarily shutting its doors for Repairs and Redecoration (R&R) works. The move is part of a pre-planned maintenance and modernisation initiative by the Hawker Centres Group (HCG) of the National Environment Agency (NEA).
Newton Food Centre Closing For Renovation On Nov 1
Newton Food Centre started in 1971, gathering more than 80 stalls loaded with hawker treats including barbecued seafood, satay, chicken wings, carrot cake, and more.
Popular Newton Food Centre stalls include Hai Yan BBQ Seafood, Newton Tian Xiang Big Prawn Noodle, XO Minced Meat Noodles, Newton Authentic Song Kee Teochew Fish Porridge, and 88 San Ren Cold & Hot Dessert.
Repairs & Redecoration Process To Last 3 Months
While three months may be too long for some Singaporeans to part with their favourite zichar stall in Newton Food Centre, it is the standard period of closure practiced for any R&R works by NEA.
A positive move that will not only upgrade consumers’ dining experience but also improve hygiene and cleanliness standards across all stalls housed in the food centre, this is a welcome move set to better the local food and beverage scene.
Hurry! Head down today to patronise your favourite stall before renovation works begin.
