For those who have been to Ipoh before, the name Nam Heong would probably ring a bell. This 60-year-old establishment specialises in dim sum and traditional Ipoh rice and noodle dishes with over 15 outlets in Malaysia. Nam Heong will be opening their second outlet in Singapore in August.
60-Year-Old Nam Heong To Open Its Second Outlet at ION Orchard
Nam Heong opened their first outlet in Singapore at 313@Somerset’s Food Republic in 2019, with their second outlet to be opening in ION Orchard’s Food Opera food court in August.
Nam Heong will be serving a plethora of handmade dim sum dishes, such as Siew Mai, Hao Gao, and their ever popular egg tarts. These egg tarts come with a velvety custard and a buttery and flaky crust. Moreover, they are known to be one of the best in Ipoh. Each egg tart is sold at $2.10.
Besides their egg tart, Nam Heong also has other popular items such as their Chicken Sou. The pastry comes with a buttery exterior, with a chicken char siew filling that has a sweet, smoky sauce that packs flavour. Each Chicken Sou is sold at $2.60.
Variety Of Other Ipoh Dishes Available At ION Orchard
Besides your usual dim sum items, you can also find other dishes such as Prawn Noodles and Hor Fun. Additionally, there is an outlet exclusive item which is the Deep Fried Salted Egg Liu Sha Baos. These custard buns are deep fried for that crispy crunch and have a gooey salted egg filling.
