We getting used to the ‘Circuit Breaker’ period but it won’t be long until this becomes a normal sight. At Geylang Serai Market, crowds can be seen to encircle the building in a very long line. Practising strict social distancing and safety measures. Which is completely different than the kind of visit the wet market used to receive.
Snaking Queue Around The Building
To comply with the government’s orders, the Geylang Serai Market’s current actions stood out. The management would only allow 100 people going into the building to shop at a time. With all of its sides being taped, people can only go in and out through a single entrance in an orderly manner. Thus creating a safe environment for both patrons and vendors.
The wet market is supposed to operate as usual. However, it is clear that most of its shops and businesses are closed. While this cautionary step deserves praise, it might be a bit concerning to older or disabled patrons. Especially since they have to stand in line for a long period of time. Which is why it will be better for them to have the young ones do the shopping on behalf of the elderly. They can even bring a portable chair to sit on.
Keep Calm And Shop
If the market of your choice is just as busy as this one, just bring your own entertainment to kill time. It is also best to bring a bottle of water with you to avoid dehydration. Don’t rush and worry too much, the supplies are enough for everyone. So wear your mask, we might be able to get out of this pandemic faster as long as we stay united.
