Run by Mdm Ling Hang Hua and her sister, Lin Yu Mei Sarawak Noodles & Kolo Mee has been around for several years and continues to be one of the most popular stalls at Haig Road Food Centre. Although offering Sarawak Laksa as well, it is definitely their Kolo Mee however that is a crowd favourite. Side dishes like fried wanton and fishsticks are offered as well, making them the perfect pairing with their tasty Kolo Mee.

Their Kolo Mee ($4.50) is served with springy and QQ noodles, minced pork, and slices of char siew. Do give the noodles a good toss to ensure every strand is coated with the mixture of shallot oil, soya sauce, and their homemade chilli. Simply take a whiff and the delightful aroma of the shallot oil permeates around you, letting you know you’re in for an amazing treat.

Unlike some wanton noodles that have an alkaline taste, Kolo Mee does not, ensuring you enjoy the full flavour of the sauces. Flavourwise, it leans slightly towards the lighter side however, when paired with the minced pork and char siew, the savouriness really comes through.

As for their fiery chilli, it definitely isn’t an understatement when we say it packs a punch!  As the spice lingers yet isn’t too overbearing, you can’t help but go back for more with each bite. However, for those who can’t really handle their spice, you might want to be careful with the amount of chilli mixed in. Served with a bowl of light and comforting soup, it is well-seasoned and helps to alleviate the heat.
