Recently opened this month at Guillemard Road, Hey Kee offers diners an authentic 80s Hong Kong Dai Pai Dong Experience, with Insta-worthy interior and iconic dishes from the streets of Hong Kong.
Hey Kee Opens Retro Hong Kong-Style Restaurant In S’pore
The brainchild of this unique concept is by Mr Reuben Chua and Mr Keith Kang, both of whom are foodies and have a combined experience of 10 years in the F&B industry. Hey Kee pays homage to the disappearing tradition of dai pai dong, or “big license stalls,” that once filled the streets of Hong Kong which are known for their affordable yet huge portions of comfort food.
Enjoy Nostalgic Ambiance
Hey Kee’s interior is a heartfelt tribute to Hong Kong’s golden era, capturing the spirit of the past with carefully curated elements. The energetic atmosphere is accentuated by vivid red chairs and green banquet tables. At the same time, vintage posters of iconic singers, celebrities, and classic movie stars adorn the walls, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
At the entrance, a captivating barber’s spiral lamp beckons visitors into the space, where playful and glamorous photographs recreate the charm of an old-fashioned barber shop.
Adding to the dining experience, Hey Kee offers private rooms accommodating up to 20 diners, complete with karaoke systems for an enjoyable dining experience. Retro-styled 80s/90s bus tops have also been recreated, providing unique seating areas.
The timeless charm and authenticity are further emphasized by mosaic floor and wall tiles, including live seafood tanks – an iconic feature reminiscent of traditional Chinese eateries prevalent in the 80s and 90s.
