In this recipe series, we’re sharing 5 easy and creative breakfast ideas made with Nutella, using simple ingredients and fuss-free steps that anyone can recreate at home. 

1. Nutella Shio Pan 

A buttery, flaky shio pan filled with a generous serving layer of Nutella and finished with a sprinkle of flaky salt. The combination of creamy Nutella, buttery pastry and a subtle savoury touch makes every bite extra satisfying.

Ingredients

  • Bread Flour 
  • All-Purpose Flour 
  • Cocoa Powder 
  • Caster Sugar 
  • Milk Powder
  • Instant Dry Yeast 
  • Salt 
  • Cold Drinking Water 
  • Unsalted Butter 
  • Salted Butter
  • Nutella

Method

  1. Chill 72g salted butter (6 cubes). 
  2. Mix 190g bread flour, 45g all-purpose flour, 15g cocoa powder, 30g sugar, 15g milk powder, 3g yeast and 4g salt.
  3. Add 150g cold water and mix until a rough dough forms; add up to 15g more water if needed.
  4. Knead until smooth, then add 20g softened butter and knead until elastic.
  5. Cover and proof for 60–90 minutes, until doubled.
  6. Divide into 6 balls and rest for 15 minutes.
  7. Roll each into a 25–30cm triangle and add frozen butter to the wide end.
  8. Roll into shio pan shapes, place on a lined tray and proof for 40–60 minutes.
  9. Mist with water, sprinkle with flaky salt and bake at 210°C for 15–18 minutes.
  10. Cool for 10 minutes, pipe 15g of nutella into shiopan and serve.

2. Nutella Matcha Latte 

Give your morning matcha a sweet upgrade with this creamy Nutella Matcha Latte. Made with milk, matcha and Nutella, it’s an easy drink to pair with your favourite breakfast bake.

  • Nutella 
  • Matcha Powder 
  • Drinking Water 
  • Full Cream Milk 
  • Ice 

Method

  1. Sift 3g matcha powder, add 40g warm water (75–80°C) and froth until smooth.
  2. Decoratively spread 15g of Nutella around the inside and rim of a large glass.
  3. Fill the glass with ice and pour in the milk.
  4. Slowly pour the frothed matcha over the milk. Served cold.

3. Nutella Churros 

Crispy and golden on the outside, soft on the inside and paired with creamy Nutella — these churros make for an indulgent breakfast treat that’s surprisingly easy to make at home.

Ingredients

  • White Bread 
  • Cooking Oil 
  • Nutella 
  • Cinnamon Sugar

Method

1.Remove the crusts and flatten and roll each bread slice with a rolling pin.

  1. Mix 60g sugar with 4g cinnamon.
  2. Heat cooking oil to 170°C in a shallow pan.
  3. Fry the bread, seam-side down, for 45–60 seconds, turning until golden and crispy.
  4. Drain briefly, then immediately coat the hot churros in the cinnamon sugar and pipe in 15g of Nutella.
  5. Serve hot and crispy!

4. Nutella Bread Pudding 

Got some leftover bread sitting around? Turn it into a warm, comforting bread pudding with layers of Nutella. The result is soft, gooey and packed with chocolate-hazelnut goodness.

Ingredients 

  • Brioche Bread 
  • Eggs 
  • Full Cream Milk 
  • Caster Sugar 
  • Vanilla Paste 
  • Salt
  • Nutella

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C. Whisk together the eggs, milk, caster sugar, vanilla and salt until smooth and foamy.
  2. Cut the brioche into small cubes.
  3. Add 25g brioche to each ramekin.
  4. Top with another 25g brioche.
  5. Pour 100g custard into each ramekin and let soak for 10 minutes.
  6. Bake for 18–24 minutes, until the custard is set and the top is golden.
  7. Rest for 5 minutes, then make a small hole with a chopstick and pipe in 15g of Nutella.
  8. Dust with icing sugar and serve warm.

5. Nutella Butter Tteok

Sometimes, the simplest breakfasts are the most satisfying. This crispy golden toast gets an upgrade with a rich Nutella butter spread, turning an everyday slice of bread into an indulgent morning treat.

  • Glutinous Rice Flour 
  • Tapioca Starch 
  • Cocoa Pwder 
  • Baking Powder 
  • Salt 
  • Egg 
  • Full-Cream Milk
  • Nutella 
  • Unsalted Butter 
  • Caster Sugar 
  • Vanilla Extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C and butter the madeleine mould.
  2. Whisk in 20g sugar, 50g egg, 3g vanilla, then 145g milk.
  3. Mix 150g glutinous rice flour, 30g tapioca starch, 8g cocoa powder, 2g baking powder and 2g salt.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures until smooth. Rest for 5 minutes.
  5. Fill moulds 80% full (30–35g each) and tap to remove air bubbles.
  6. Bake 18–22 minutes until golden. Rest 5 minutes before removing.
  7. Serve warm with extra Nutella dip.
