No doubt, the must-have item in all Korean restaurants is the BBQ. This experience is irreplaceable as we get to cook, savour and not mind the aroma wafting into the surroundings. At Seorae, unlike other Korean restaurants, the BBQ here uses charcoal fire. Thus, this ensures that the barbecued meats have an added aroma to them.

Besides that, the cold side dishes that are commonly present can also be heat up by inserting them into the grill’s special compartment. Egg and cheese lovers will rejoice to know that these are also included in the grill. In addition, here at Seorae, the meats on the menu are premium alongside well-marinated. Let’s take a look at the different meat options here:

Premium Pork Skirt Meat & Many More

First of all, when you step foot into Seorae, you definitely have to order this meat cut. Known as Galmaegisal, Seorae is perhaps the only Korean Restaurant in Singapore that offers this premium meat. As the Galmegisal has a historical relation to it being named the most premium meat, its taste doesn’t disappoint. Did you guys know that Galmaegisal is a meat cut that only the monarchs in Korea could afford? Also, there’s only 250g of this meat from each full-sized pig. Some even call the Galmaegisal as the Wagyu of beef meat.

Now that you know some origin behind this premium pork skirt meat, let’s venture into its taste. The Galmaegisal is perfect for those of us who have a general preference for lean meat. Not only that, this pork skirt meat has a tender yet juicy mouth feel upon our first bite. Truly a meat cut for the exclusives.

Seorae Samgyeobsal

The next meat cut that we’ve tried out is none other than pork belly, an essential element when it comes to Korean BBQ. Seorae present the pork belly in a unique manner; its presentation is similar to a round of flowers. After grilling it for a bit, the pork belly will then be cut into several even-sized pieces.

Once it’s ready, you can enjoy it as it is, dip it into Seorae’s Ssamyang sauce or perhaps savour the meat like Koreans do; by wrapping it up with a fresh lettuce. Oh, and don’t forget to top the pork belly with Kimchi before wrapping it up!

Aside from pork, Seorae similarly serves really juicy and tender beef too. The Woosamgyeob are thinly-sliced beef marinated with apple and pear juice. Upon the first bite, the beef has a tender chew as well as fruity aroma to it. This has got to be one of the best BBQ beef we’ve ever tasted.

Sundubu Jjigae

The very first dish aside from Korean BBQ that we’ve tried and tasted is the Spicy Soft Tofu Kimchi Stew. Kimchi lovers will go berserk over this as the flavours of the kimchi in this stew is distinct. The spiciness works its way well too, without being too overpowering for the stew. Top it off with the soft tofu or pair it with rice to make this stew the ultimate comfort food.

Mul-Naengmyeon

This next noodle dish is our personal favourite. After savouring the different Korean dishes like the BBQ and Kimchi Stew, end it with a sour kick from Seorae’s Cold Noodle. The traditional Korean Cold Noodles is served in Seorae’s cold and sour broth. Also, before digging in, the chef will add vinegar and mustard to this noodles for an extra sour kick to the dish. The sour kick on our tastebuds is so addictive especially when we combine it with the springy noodles. This is one dish that will mark a great ending to our Korean food adventure in Seorae.
