Get ready for the hawker queue of your life! This stall can boast a queue of up to 40-50 persons during the lunch hour. Their fish soup is made from fresh fish, with a generous serving of fresh batang (Spanish mackerel) fish slices. The clear soup base that is lighter version of the rich, milky soup that you will find at other fish soup shops. However, the natural sweetness of the fish shines through more. Order their Sliced Fish Bee Hoon ($5/7/9) to taste what the hype is about!

This beef noodle stall was listed on Singapore’s Michelin Bib Gourmand two years in a row, in 2016 and 2017. The beef noodle is sold in both the soup and the dry versions, priced at $4, $5 and $6. The beef stock is light but flavourful, after going through a 24-hour boiling process. In contrast, the dry version has a slightly more flavourful, dark gravy that is thick and coats the noodles! This stall is known for their fragrant Char Kway Teow. You can even distinctly taste the ‘wok hei’ (“breath of the wok”) on it! The kway teow is nicely charred with dark soy sauce, together with the cockles and bean sprouts thrown in. Priced at $3/$4 depending on the portion size, this char kway teow is good enough to convert you into a char kway teow lover!

4. Ah Ter Teochew Fishball Noodles (#01-14)

Even though this is technically a fishball noodles stall, the main dish is actually bak chor mee. The chef uniquely pairs bak chor mee with a bowl of loaded fishball soup! The soup comes with fishballs, minced pork, slices of fresh pork liver and even prawns! Pork liver can be difficult to cook to the perfect tenderness, but it is done just right at Ah Ter Teochew Fishball Noodles. This seemingly simple snack shop is actually one of the most popular in Amoy Street Food Centre! J2 Famous Crispy Curry Puff’s curry puffs have satisfied many customers who call them the best curry puffs in Singapore! Furthermore, they have also been listed in the Singapore Michelin Bib Gourmand Guide consecutively in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Each of these golden ingots sells for $1.20, and their sardine curry puffs are super highly recommended! The secret to a good curry puff pastry is in its layers, which are evident from the spirals of pastry puff decorating each curry puff.

6. Hoo Kee Rice Dumplings (#01-18)

Get bak zhang any time of the year here at Amoy Street Food Market! This Michelin Bib Gourmand bak zhang stall features authentic, hand-made, Hokkien-style dumplings. You can get them in original ($2.80), salted egg yolk ($3.60) and mushroom ($3.60). Don’t go near closing time though – they sell out pretty fast! However if you do manage to get there before they sell out, definitely buy a few as one is not enough! In addition, you can call them up to reserve your dumplings!

Looking for a stall that will give you a huge portion size? Tai Seng noodle house is the one! You can get a plate of wanton noodles riddled with wantons and char siew or fresh steamed fish for just $4! Their Braised Mushroom Pork Rib Noodle ($4) is also one of their popular dishes. Furthermore, the plate is heaped with pork ribs and deep-fried wantons. Seriously a value for money!

The gravy is naturally thick, without being too starchy. The flavour of the ingredients, like the ngoh hiang, pork belly and crispy fried fritters are deeply infused into the gravy, giving it a strong meaty flavour.

Wah Kee is a popular wanton mee stall here at Amoy – you have to be in luck if there’s no queue when you visit! The springy wanton noodles are topped with well-roasted char siew and meaty wantons for $3.50 or $4.50. Every element of the dish is well-executed, making it a favourite eating destination during lunch hour. Their chilli is also spicy and packs a real punch if you add it into your noodles!

For $3, a Standard Nasi Lemak comes with a deep-fried chicken wing, luncheon meat, fish cake and ikan bilis. The chicken wings are well-marinated and fried to a crisp, making them a popular addition to Li Xing’s Nasi Lemak! The highlight of this Nasi Lemak is the fragrant coconut rice that is thoroughly infused with coconut. Although, the coconut taste may be a tad bit strong for some palates.
