After being developed in the 1920s, while the streets are still named after pioneers from the 19th to 20th century, Tiong Bahru has become a hip hang-out place. Once your footsteps into the bakery, you will be hit with the aromatic smell of freshly baked goods. Try one of their Almond Crossaint for breakfast or tea, it is the right amount to keep you filled until your next meal! Want something sweeter and denser? Get their Kouign Amann – which translates to “cake” and “butter”. It is a crisp roll of pastry filled with buttery goodness! You would not want to miss it!

This stall along Tiong Bahru Market has been running for more than 20 years, selling Fried Kway Teow for only $3! The stall’s kway teow is flavourful from the Chinese sausages and beansprouts. A taste would certainly take you back to your childhood days!

Jian Bo Tiong Bahru Shui Kueh was founded by Mr Wang in 1958. Mr Wang earned his keep by selling Shui Kueh with his trusty pushcart at Tiong Bahru Market. Today, Mr Wang entrusted his stall to his children. His recipe for Shui Kueh has been used since 1958. His rice cake is soft and moist, topped off with just the right amount of radish.

Their gravy contains just the right amount of starch, and a good portion of noodles. Their Lor Mee is also served with fishcake, fried fish nuggets, stewed pork belly and braised egg. You can also ask for chilli to give you an extra kick!
