99 Years Of History!

Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and following Starbuck’s Mooncake launch, BreadTalk brings Hang Heung’s Famous Mooncakes to Singapore from 13 August 2019. However, they’re not just bringing in any normal mooncakes. The mooncakes are from none other than Hong Kong’s 99-year Heritage Brand Hang Heung Cake Shop (恆香)!

Hang Heung Traditional Mooncakes

Hang Heung has over 90 years of history, having been founded in the 1920s. It began as a humble bakery in Yuen Long (Hong Kong) and has since expanded into a household name in Hong Kong. It is renowned even in Singapore, where Singaporeans often bring back their pastries after traveling to Hong Kong.

Despite their widespread popularity in the region, they remain only a few stores within Hong Kong. Thus, it is difficult to get your hands on some of their famous pastries if you’re not traveling there. However, for the first time, BreadTalk is bringing in these famous, best-selling mooncakes direct from Hong Kong.

Hang Heung sticks to its traditional roots in terms of sourcing for quality ingredients and using their original recipe. Expect to see their classic Signature White Lotus Seed Mooncakes with Double Yolk that are handcrafted with ingredients from Hunan, Xianglian.

The lotus paste is made from cooking the lotus root for 3-4 hours. The addition of top-grade double salted egg yolks also adds a nice umami flavour to cut through all that sweetness. It is their best-selling mooncake for a reason! They will retail for S$17 each, and S$63 for a box of 4.

If you want to try a bit of everything, go for their Fortune Blessings Assorted Mooncakes Set (S$63). It comes with one of each: Signature White Lotus Paste with Double Yolk, Classic Lotus Paste with Double Yolk, Red Bean Paste Mooncake with Double Yolk and Mixed Nuts Mooncake.
